Remove brick coping

If I wanted to remove brick coping and go with concrete instead, does anything with the pool walls or anything have to change? Any pros and cons? The reason I am considering this is because I need to bust up some of the concrete to install a wire mesh for a bonding issue (different thread, don't want to get into that here) and it seems that with settlement and all of that, we keep getting chunks of mortar in our pool from the brick coping. Not to mention that there are sections where I can just pull the bricks up in chunks. Just tired of that mess.

No, nothing needs to happen to the pool wall. The coping is set in a mortar bed on top of the pool wall. Be sure to leave 3/4" or so between the coping and deck for an expansion joint to be filled with foam backer rod and self-leveling polyurethane caulk.
