Our pool doesn't have any type of bench, but last year I decided I wanted one!

What I used last year was some older plastic shelving that had tabs intended to lock two sets of shelves together. I set them up so that the shelves were only one shelf high, and interlocked 3 or 4 of those in a row, and popped PVC caps that fit tightly to the bottom to protect the pool bottom and sank those.

It worked well enough, though there were times I wished they were just a little sturdier (like for if/when an adult uses it to step right into the pool, and steps in the middle of the shelf), and stuff would get caught in the holes in the shelves so I'd have to move them and vacuum periodically.

So I'm wondering if there is something out there that might work a little nicer? Something removable that won't damage the floor of the pool? Other ideas on building/repurposing something into something better?

Well I've now learned that "furniture grade" PVC piping and fittings exist, so I think if I'm going to build something it will be out of that. Furniture Grade PVC Fittings, Pipe and Accessories | FORMUFIT

I'm thinking for now I have too many projects I want to do, so I may just keep my current setup and add some kind of PVC planking on top of it to make that a little sturdier.

The caps I used were off the shelf dome shaped pipe caps, so I may order a set of flat ones, so I hopefully don't get any more divots in the bottom of the pool and maybe I can glue some kind of mat to the bottom of that.
