I just had the tile line replaced and also did an acid wash. Pool is 24,000 gallon and ha been filling since 5:30 last night. Couple questions ... Should I wait until completely full to add chlorine and acid, and in what order, and how much? I have liquid chlorine plus tabs. I've always had a problem with keeping the ph down so they resulted in my calcium skyrocketing. Thought I would just start with the acid and the chlorine then check it the next day and keep checking for alk, calcium, cya, etc .
Can anyone address this for me? The water had not even reached the second step yet so I'm thinking no chemicals till filled but maybe I'm wrong ....????

To confirm - it was not a replaster - just new tiles and then you did an acid wash on the existing plaster.

Have you tested your fill water? That would be helpful so we know how your initial readings will be. Although there could be some lingering effect of the acid wash on your fill water.
You will need to add stabilizer to increase the CYA of your water. You can add the granular stabilizer via the sock method. That may take a couple of days to full mix.
Have liquid chlorine ready to add as that is the quickest way to raise FC levels. It indicates you use liquid chlorine as your main chlorination method.
Based on your test results after filling you may need to adjust TA and CH as well.
Post a full set of test results when it is full or nearly full.

Edit - I looked at your logs on Pool Math but they were 2 yrs old so not really valid as to how your pool chemistry was before you did the recent work.

Yes, just retile and acid wash. Was'nt sure if should wait till nearly full before adding anything. I use liquid and tabs... But have to watch cya with tabs so it's a game... LOL . It's only about half full but my curiosity is getting the better is me

Ok ... Results
pH is 7.8 and probably on the rise.
Alk. is 100
Calcium Hardness is 80
Chlorine is zero
CYA is zero

My plan, continue to fill till water can be circulated through the skimmer, turn pump back on then add:
1 gallon of muriatic acid (too much??)
2 gallon liquid chlorine about 30 minutes later
6 new chlorine tabs then check again the next day for what needs to be done with calcium and cya

Does this make sense to you?

Thanks for your input. 20220707_174031.jpg

Agree that you should not add anything until you can circulate water.
Do you use your PoolMath app? That can guide you on what amount to add of each chemical.
1 gal of MA (31.45%) will lower pH by 1.3 and TA by 22ppm. That drop in pH is too much.
1 gal of 10% LC will increase FC by 4.3ppm
Why do you want to add pucks? It takes too long to dissolve to add CYA. Best to use granular stabilizer. Only use pucks if you go on vacation.
You will need to raise calcium. Do you have that to add? 10lbs of Calcium Chloride will raise CH by 47ppms.
Please refer to Pool Care Basics and Recommended Levels for your pool.

Ok, so 1/2 gal of MA, a gallon of chlorine, conditioner and calcium increaser.
Yes, I have it all and yes, I used the pool math in the beginning but I pretty much know where everything should be now ... Been doing it for almost 4 years in my own. I was just concerned about a new fill and in what order to add chemicals. I'll look at the Basics.

Thanks

In PM App, go to the menu on top left and select Effects of Adding - you will need to use that when adding stabilizer and calcium. You want to incrementally increase those to the recommended levels without overshooting. So add a given amount, let it mix for a day then test. Then determine how much to add for another increment so you do not overshoot your target.

I like the painted fence in the background :)
Keep your FC up and keep doing what your doing
That's only part is the fence. I'll try to add the other parts

It's 9:30 am in Orlando and super hot out there already. This is what I have so far. Waiting on delivery of stabalizer and calcium hardness increaser.
FC - 6.2
CC - 0
pH - 7.4
Alk - 80
CYA - 25 waiting on delivery (will aim for 60)
Calc H - 0.. waiting delivery (will aim for 350)
Does anyone use enzymes? I did before draining (12 oz. Weekly) and loved the way it made the water feel and also kept the tile clean but wondering what others think.
Also, does anyone use No Mor Problems? I was using 5 oz per week and think it's an awesome product.... (Algaecide/Clarifier)

Haven’t used it but to be honest not sure you need it :) Has mixed reviews with people here but save your money.

With your water in balance it will stay clear

All looks great. Your water will stay clear with your current setup and just keep up with the FC/CYA Levels to prevent algae

We like ALL the pics......inadvertent or not.

Please read "Pool Care Basics" up in Pool School. Chlorine is the SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT thing you keep in your pool. Keep the chlorine up and adjust the other parameters slowly and in no hurry until you have a really good grasp of what they do.

Awwww, thanks! Yes, I'm doing the CYA and the CH slowly.... first, because they're a ***** to dissolve... The stabilizer especially!

Here's a pic they I did today after finally able to get in the pool. Water is crystal clear!
