hey,

We have a 20x40 inground rectangular concrete pool with a diving board. We live in Ontario, so we can only use it 2/3 months out of the year. We love it but its too big for us. We were wondering if it will be cost effective to make it a bit smaller.

Thanks for any insights!

Welcome to TFP.

Cost effective? No.

How much do you think you would save with a smaller pool?

You can figure on at least $20,000 (US) to build a smaller gunite pool-within-your-existing-pool (depending on the local market it could be quite a bit more). I it worth it to you? Only you can make that decision. Why don't you like the larger pool?

Wouldn't it be more cost effective to add a heater and extend the swimming season? We are in Ottawa and swim from May through October (about 5.5 months).
