Redo pool surround

Hi all!
I live in Jersey so pool is only open 3-4 months a year. We have an ugly concert surround that I want to replace.
I’m not looking for a provider just advice from anyone who has in ground pool with vinyl liner who has replaced the surround. Anything you wish you’d known about before you started?
We currently have concrete what material should i think of/about?
We typically get severe winters does this impact my thoughts? We have Salt water does this need to be taken into consideration?
The current concrete has some cracks & erosion but is basically ugly.

Have you seen "cool deck"? It is something you can put on top of the concrete. Do some asking around your area to see if there is an installer in your area. Just know the concrete prep will be THE most important aspect of doing anything.
