Anyone have a recommendation on a submersible pump for use in pumping excess water from pool during heavy rains? I’m guessing something a 1/3 to 1/2 hp? Would probably need to pump water around 30’ to discharge area. Unfortunately my pool doesn’t have an overflow built in. Normally this isn’t an issue in Phoenix but during monsoon season it can rain real hard real fast. There have been a few times pool was close to overflowing the coping.

The Everbuilt pumps sold at Home Depot have proven to be good. One thing to consider is that most come only with a 10ft cord so you need to have a weather protection around the the connection if you couple to an extension cord. A 1/2 hp should do you well.

We got new equipment last summer. If you look closely there is a spigot on the supply line run in to the filter. Due to our monsoons today in Scottsdale...I have been draining water all day. That spigot comes in handy!!!!

You can also setup a siphon to drain it for you. Just set the end of the hose at the height you want the water to end up at and it'll stop automatically. I had to use mine yesterday cause we got a couple inches pretty fast.
