Recommended / Ideal Ranges

Ranges are exactly that. Anywhere within a range is ok.

If you focus on achieving an ideal number you will just make more work for yourself. There is no reward of having ideal numbers versus being in range.

Pool Math doesn't know your location/climate or what part of the season it is. Or the details of you fill water.

'Ideal' is simply how most pools respond whether LC or SWG and may or may not reflect your situation.

For example, those in the southwest may want to keep their CH lower as the high Ch fill water and copious amounts of evaporation will forever have it rising. Then they install a water softener and the parameters change.

Those in the southeast with up to 70 inches of rain  would want their CYA, CH and salt higher as they're forever lowering from the free water exchange.

In SC, you're pretty much stable in the middle. Right now the CYA isn't critical with short days and a low sun angle but you'll want it 70 to start the peak season. TA will keep the PH in check at 60 or 70. CH is good in the 300s for plaster and Salt is good in the low to mid 3ks. Adjust FC in target or high target as needed per your CYA. Lower PH when it hits 8 to 7.6 or 7.8.
