Hello! So, I bought my pool online a few years ago and have learned that I pretty much had no idea what I was doing! All of the equipment that came with the pool was cheap blue torrent. I have replaced the pump, filter, and swg already 1x. SWG is bad and filter system is leaking again. I am switching over to better equipment now. I just bought the circupool rj45 swg and I need to replace the filter. My pump is doing ok right now, so I am going to keep it and hopefully make it through this season.

My pool is 33ft round with 54 inch walls. The pump is generic 2 speed 1.5hp. The current cartridge system is 180sqft and my clean psi is 10. I clean the filter about 1x every other month when the psi gets above 12. I sweep the pool regularly and keep my chemicals in line with tfp's recommended levels. Can you give me some advise as to what filter system you recommend?

Also, some of the screw holes for these tops caps have broken. Can you also tell me what these caps are called so I can try to find replacements? I've searched, but not sure what to look for. Thank you!

You mean just the filter correct? You have everything else? Are you wanting to stay with a cartridge filter or go sand/DE?

I think top cap is a fairly common name. What make/model poo is this?

Thanks, Texas Splash! I would like to do either DE or Cartridge. We are on well water and the pool is in full sun, so we lose some water as is. I run the water through a trap and it seems to do ok, but I still worry about water exchange using well water.

For the caps, I cannot figure out what the issue is. It seems like the heads on the screws that came with it maybe were not large enough. I don't see anything wrong with the the bottom cap eyelet that would prevent it from staying in place.

As for the brand, I thought I was buying a Doughboy, but realized later that the pool was manufactured by H.I.I. and I am not certain what brand it is.

It's this pool, but 33' x54": 2022 BATTLESHIP 8’X54″ (9IN) Hybrid SALT Pool CAN BURY 24 INCHES | swimming pool discounters

Thanks!

A nice sized cartridge filter would certainly make sense since conserving water is important in your situation. The pool caps are another matter. Perhaps @jimmythegreek may have some thoughts? We'll see next time he hops online.

Thanks! Should I do a 400 sqft cartridge? Is there a particular brand you recommend? I saw Circupool also sells cartridge filters, but I am not seeing the volume of reviews for that as what I saw for swg. Thanks!

When it comes to cart filters, you could literally chose from 6-10 various models easily across all of the major brands (Hayward, Pentair, etc). Something in the 300 - 520 sq ft range would be a multi-cart filter which should provide longer intervals between cleaning. It mainly boils down to room on the pad for the larger filter and a few dollars more. As for which brand do I (or another member) like better is like asking if you like Ford or Chevy better. All personal opinions really as they all do a good job in the filter department. Unlike pumps, there aren't as many electrical issues to go wrong. :)
