Recommendations on Pool Deck construction

Hello all,

I would like to build our pool deck to the edge of the pool but I am wondering about he pros and cons if we do this type of deck. We will need to be able to put our winter cover on when we close the pool each year and I think we would have space to get underneath the deck if we ever needed to, etc. I would like to be able to work out our patio doors and right into the deck, dangling my feet in the pool.

2 easy ways to skin this cat. Either build the deck to 1 inch from the pool wall or have the deck boards cover 1 inch above the top edge of the pool. Either way leaves plenty of space to get under the deck and pass the tarp/cover through.
