Recommendation for SWCG

I recently upgraded my pool system and added a swcg, I specifically went with a sj55 Circupool suggested @mknauss on this forum.
It is working great so far zero issues

My question is why this brand over the more known brands.
A friend of mine has a Hayward that has failed after 3vyears but says that this is an unknown brand and tends to stick with brand names.

Why circupool?

cz,

The short answer is that major brands, such as Pentair, Hayward, and Jandy want their products to be installed by a qualified installer before they will honor the full warranty. Their business model is designed to sell through their distributors to pool builders, and other pool professionals...

CircuPool's business model is more DIY..

CircuPool is not the only DIY business model, but they are currently the one that has most positive reviews from our members... As our members report their reviews from other DIY brands, we will also add them to our recommendation list..

Keep in mind there is no actual list.. :)

Thanks,

Jim R.

Appreciate your response Jim, one more question, I have been noticing online that a sacrificial anode is a must especially with a SWCG, nobody on here has ever mentioned the need to have one installed.
Is it necessary to have one?

I think it is more of a regional thing...

I see this done a lot in the northeast, but think you would be hard pressed to find one in Texas or AZ or Florida..

My personal opinion is that it is like any myth, there is some nugget of truth in there somewhere, but I am not sure what it would be..

I have three saltwater pools and none of them have an "anode" and none of them have any corrosion issues .. That would be zero, zip, nada...

I put the anode idea in the same area that I put UV and O-Zone... If there is any benefit it is so slight that it would be hard to measure.

If it makes you feel better, install one, but I would not be looking for any measurable difference.

Thanks,

Jim R.

You'll tend to see it recommended when there is an automated cover installed as those cover parts can corrode easier than most pool items.

To clarify a bit on the above, Hayward still offers a full 3 year warranty on SWG self installs. Personally, I would only install a CircuPool SWG on a large pool that requires a SWG rated above 40,000 gallons. Other than that I would stick with Hayward or match the brand if there is automation involved, my .02.

I use Circupool. I find the don’t last all that long, but they manage to cut me a deal to buy a new one.

The last one lasted ~ 4 years and the display went out. The display was $100 but rather than chance it I bought a new SWG. I think Hayward is built better, or maybe my pool environment is tough on them.
