Recently Completed Suburban Pool

Finally some rain free days! Things were starting to get back on track. The pool had been drained, the drainage issue sorted and the builder pressing us for a decision on the pool feature tiles. I just couldn't make up my mind, did I want black, did I want green, did I want blue..... it was torture I wanted them all!

We chose these glass mosaics in the end....

While the tiles were being stuck on, The pool fence guys were hard at work drilling and fitting the glass fence...

And the plumber was busy digging and laying pipes for the pool pump and filter...

WE had the pipes installed for future solar expansion should we feel the water not warm enough... The pump for that would sit on the left....

All good points and I was thinking the same but in the past 6 months nothing has run into into it.. The fence sits higher than the ground level and it is probably more noticeable in person than in the photos...

Now that the fence was in, the pool and fence had been checked by the local council pool inspector to confirm compliance... Apart from some boards to be fitted to the back fence we were good to go.

We were ready to spray the pebble-creed and fill with water!

Thanks! Surprisingly not hard at all. I usually give it a quick hose down if the kids have been splashing pool water onto it. Occasional we get bat droppings squirted on the glass as they fly overhead (yuck!) but it too is easily hosed off. The rain does the rest.

The pool looks really good from our kitchen and lounge room not obscured by fence.

I was also worried that the glass panel would effectively block out any breeze into the pool area - but that hasn't been a problem.

So we are now on the home straight.

The pool was ready for the pebble-creed to be sprayed on. Our builder offered us a few choices on a pebble colour. We didn't want an overly blue colour or very dark but more natural looking. We went to a couple of pools he had recently finished to see how the colour would show up, but on those days the sky was overcast and we didn't get a true indication of how the finish would look.

We were more than happy to go with the colour he had in mind since we had a lot of trust in his professional experience.

Below is a time lapse of the pebble creed being applied, the acid wash and water filling. It was very early in the morning so the sun didn't quite help with the photos...

How I liked that video even better! I could really see their thought process as they worked on it. NEAT stuff! Did they know you had a camera set up?

The third picture down in your above post where the sun is shining on the your tile REALLY shows the BLING! Pretty!

Hi Kim,

Yeah I asked the concrete guys if they didn't mind me shooting the video. They said it was ok so long as I didn't put it on the internet... something about being wanted by authorities in three different states.... I digress.

So the pool build was officially finished!

.... and now time to start the landscaping! This was something that I wanted to do. Hands on! Again it was a question of what do we want? Large grass area (I'm really good at growing weeds!) Mass plant out? It probably took around a month of pegging out the yard with string line looking at different options.

The most important thing was to raise the ground level to meet the height of the pool coping and tiles and re gig the drainage that had been partly installed (on purpose).

And this is how it looks so far...

In this shot you can just see the hut I also built for the pool pump and filter... Obviously that side of the yard is next to landscape - but I'm waiting for some cooler weather.

These tiles really dazzle when the sun hits them.
