Reasons to drain high water level?

We just got some rain, and my water level is a bit over the top of my skimmers.

Between a waterfall and sunlight, evaporation will take the level down in a couple of days. Other than the skimmers not skimming, is there a reason to lower the water level in the mean time?

Thanks!

No. You can leave it if you like. But be aware that if you get any additional rain you may overflow, which could impact nearby landscaping, etc.

Odd that you do not have an overflow in your location.

Take care.

I wouldn't assume anything. I live in St Louis also, don't have an overflow drain. It all depends on who builds the pool and how cheap they want to be.

When I took ownership of my vinyl lined pool, the previous owner told me it overflowed and caused wrinkles in the liner. But I do not believe that to be true. I think the wrinkles were caused by the water table rising and there not being a sump pump system in my pool. I regularly let the rain fill my pool to the top and let it evaporate to the regular level. I was hoping to get more rain last night to accomplish this in fact, but in my area we did not get much.
