With the unseasonably very hot weather in MI the past week or so and more coming up , I am finding it difficult to keep the numbers at a consistent level. Especially the pH it tends to go high 7.6-7.8. I get it down to 7.4 and it goes back up within a few days. FC tends to go down 3-5. I am testing daily or every other (tend to forget 🙄).
Is this common/typical for for hot hot weather?

Yes. 3-5 daily loss is typical. pH rise is due to low pH and high TA. Stop forcing pH down to 7.4. 7.8-8 is ok. What is your TA.

Bob, what is your current CYA? There's nothing in your Poolmath logs for us to see. You might need a bit more CYA to protect the FC from the sun. In some cases, it's good to run an Overnight Chlorine Loss Test before adding stabilizer just to be sure you don't have an organics problem.

Followed the instructions on the sheet for it. Maybe that was wrong? Other TAs have been 100, 102, 112.
I just tested TA again, still 260.

So now i have to lower pH to 7.0-7.2 with baking soda to get TA down???

TA is multiples of 10...no way you should get 102 or 112.

pH rises because of high TA and low pH. With a TA of 260, it will rise fairly quickly.

Here is how to lower TA.

I have a sump running on the top step of the pool ladder. Seems to be bubbling quite nicely. Doubt I can build something as elaborate as your nice set-up 😄

Is it safe to swim during the TA lowering process?
When I fill next season, should lowering the TA be the 1st thing I do to the water?

Yesterday I got the pH to 7.0, and aerated all night with the cover off. I put the cover on this morning, stopped the aerator, and then We got a ton of rain. And it’s been very windy all day.
I tested just now. pH is 7.8, TA is 200. Why and how did pH go up so quickly ????? And what is next action? Take cover off and keep aerating? Get pH back down? Frustrating.
