Real allergy to chlorine _ Dermatologist verified

Dave asked earlier, what is the "AOP" you are asking about??

Outdoor bromine pool s are difficult to maintain because it cannot be stabilized against UV light.

I replied above but here it is again

AOP advanced oxidation process, combines ozone and UV to clear contaminants, cut chlorine ...supposedly

Hi Mike, let me help you out...
Trouble Free Pools have zero CC's

Chuck

I felt I needed to chime in and be overly nitpicky and difficult, because, well, that’s what I do sometimes. :D

If you sanitize your pool with chlorine, you have CCs. It is a physical impossibility for you to have ZERO CCs in an open system like a pool that’s sanitized with Chlorine. It might be a minute, trace amount, less than can be measured with our test kits. But you have SOME. If you sanitize with chlorine and you have ANY organics in the pool - a single leaf, bug, drop of sunscreen, sweat, etc..... you have CCs.

Sorry for nitpicking

There is zero buildup of cc on outdoor tfp since the sun has the capacity to break them up and outgas them. So there is zero buildip.

The only time I see cc on here is ammonia or a green swamp.

Op, regardless of what you do, stay away from indoor pools, this is the only situation where a 'aop' would be remotely useful.

Hi all

Not asking for medical advice but wanted to give some background.
Derm/allergy doc confirmed with skin test
AOP advanced oxidation process, combines ozone and UV to clear contaminants, cut chlorine ...supposedly
tried showering immediately after but same result
It's all pools but not sure if I have ever been in a TFP pool
Food allergy may be a part of it but that's a whole different discussion

Does anyone have an AOP system or a bromine pool?

Thanks again for all the advice

I am NOT a doctor.

what happens if you mix tap water to 3-4 PPM FC and leave on your skin?
you say you just get itchy? Have you tried Aveeno lotion? No, not kidding.

Funny note: Neighbor says she's allergic to chlorine (not doctor verified)...so they have a "SWG as that doesn't use chlorine."
Some people LMAO

Welcome to TFP, neighbor!!!

I can't imagine not being able to enjoy a swimming pool! I have a huge sad :( for you!

A couple of people have suggested you try out a swcg pool again but one maintained using TFPC methods. I just happen to have one of those! I'm not sure what part of Houston you're in, but if you're nearby or don't mind a drive, you're more than welcome to come out and try my pool. I'm in NW Harris County (Cypress) near the major crossroads of 249 and Louetta. If you're in the Cypress area, a more specific interesection is N. Eldridge and Grant Road.

I'm an old retired woman, so my pool is open most days, all day. BYOIO just in case it doesn't work. (bring your own itch ointment)

Take care,
Suz

Hopefully a few people from TFP will vouch for me....

Well here ya go!!!! Suz this is so sweet of you!

Suz's pool has been maintained the TFP way since it was "born". In fact here is the pool's "baby book": Another Pool Build in Cypress, TX It is a long one but man we sure had fun building her pool!

I really hope you take her up on the invite. I say go sit on her sun shelf and see how your feet react to her water. If things are good after 10 mins CANNON BALL! She might even have some ice cream waiting for you! (Oh wait that is for me!!! LOL One day I will get to met her in real life.)
