Ready to start TFP with a SLAM

Closer every day. There is only a very minor clarity issue at this point, and all of the dead algae "piles" seem to have been mostly sucked up into the filter. So close!

Keeping with the CYA of 50. FC was 17. Added 10% liquid chlorine to bring it up to 20 per SLAM guidelines.

No real questions other than, the PoolMath app says that if I have CYA at 50, then my chlorine level needs to be between 4 and 8. That doesn't leave much room for actually keeping it at lower levels, right? Should I drain/fill my pool by 1/4 again to get the CYA more in the mid 30s or 40ish, so that I can run lower chlorine levels?

Why are you concerned with running the proper FC levels for your CYA?

In summer you want at least 50 ppm CYA in your climate.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding something. Isn't the point to run proper FC levels at proper CYA levels? Isn't less chlorine generally going to be better for human health? Can both be done?

FC dropped all the way to 12. Added LC 10% to get it back up to 20. Clearer still, less dead algae on bottom each time.

I passed my OCLT!!!
CC = 0!
Pool is clear!

Thank you very much for your help gentlemen! Now I will allow the sun to bring down the chlorine, maintain levels, and finally be able to use my pool again after this pool-store-method-driven debacle is now over.

I figured out some valuable concepts that I am applying elsewhere (clinical nutrition) through this process too, which was very interesting.

The summer pool temps are now gone, but since I like cold pools and the Wim Hof Method, it's going to be just right for that (my son and I) soon enough.

Again, thank you for your guidance and support. The hardest lessons are the best ones.
