Re: What pool chemicals should not be stored together?

Hi everyone, I've run into a situation similar to the OP, but I'm looking to store muriatic acid and chlorine tablets outside in a plastic deck box. I'm hoping to keep all of my chemicals including my test kit and other pool cleaning gear in the box. Any issues with this? How could I separate things so that they don't mix? I live in Las Vegas. Thanks.

Bleach and Acid should be stored seperately. Also, dont mix different forms of dry Chlorine in the same containers or those used with others previously. For instance, you have an old bucket of Cal-Hypo, and another partial bucket of Tri-Chlor you want to consolidate into one. Don't do that either. Even mixing these in empty/partial containers can be very dangerous. The test kit should be inside the house where its cool and dark preferably. Same for Bleach if you ever use it for Chlorine.

Also, depending on your location, it really isn't a good idea to store your testing supplies outdoors. Ideally, they should be kept in a cool area to help preserve their useful life.
