Was wondering if someone had some idea on how to work this out. When the pool guy opened the pool the heater fired up and he asked if he should leave it running. I said no because the water was not balanced and we weren't going to use it for a week or 2. So I got it all cleaned up and balanced and went to turn the heater on and it tried but kept cutting off. Finally I opened every thing up that could be safely unscrew and cleaned bugs leafs etc. I didn't notice anything major, except that the bottom of the heater is really super rusted through. I cleaned the mess out and wondered if: 1 is it safe to run even if it starts and 2. The SNS error code for the sensor comes on so it won't start. 3. Where is the sensor exactly and is it something I could replace.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

The RP2100 manual is here - https://www.royalswimmingpools.com/rp2100manual.pdf

From Raypak Heater Fault Code Guide
SNSTemperature sensor is out of acceptable range.1. Water temperature is below 36F or above 110F
2. If the two thermistors are more than 2 degrees apart, the SNS code will appear.
3. Loose or corroded connection at P1.
4. If the sensor is not mounted all the way into the JACO fitting on the header, it may give a false reading.

Temperature sensor is part 6-C on top left of page 50. It's in the heat exchanger, see page 25.

There are enough safety sensors in the heater that if something else is wrong it should shutdown.

Replacing the thermistor may buy you some time but it sounds like the heater will eventually need to be replaced. Depends how much time and effort and money you want to put into it to but some time.
