I live in Las Vegas, NV and have a 20,000 gal pool and I use Liquid Chlorine . Earlier this year I bought some granular cya and raised it to just 30 but I think overtime is has gone just a bit below. I have seen on some posts its not bad to have a bit higher cya for some areas. I want to raise the cya some more since I feel I run through liquid chlorine very easily but I want to do it in a cost effective way. I am thinking of using a di chlor shock pack of 5 to raise up the cya roughly 15 levels but also raising my FC (Would I have to add it all at once for cya levels to rise or using it throughout the week/s will still raise cya 15?). As I believe a dichlor shock pack of 5 would be cheaper than liquid stabilizer or granular cya, I think I bought a 4lb granular cya for around $40. Then theres the 3 inch tabs that also contain conditioner and could give me chlorine aswell.
Cya is at 30 give or take a 1 or two

I was also wondering if Liquid Chlorine was the cheapest option to maintain weekly FC levels. Its what some sites say compared to the tablets. I want to know what you guys think could work best for my situation.
I use about half a gallon of Liquid Chlorine 10% when the sun has gone down

Welcome to TFP! Don't waste your time and money on pucks. They will take too long. In Vegas you should have a CYA of 50 in the summer and balance the FC to that higher CYA as noted on the FC/CYA Levels. Liquid chlorine is the best food to feed your pool each day. When I was still a non-salt pool, my almost 18K pool used 1/2 gallon of 10% strength chlorine each day and my CYA was at 60.

Understood. Thanks man you’re awesome!
I should have asked 3 months ago haha

Use PoolMath effects of adding to see all the effects each dose of dichlor or trichlor will have on your water - they not only add fc & cya but are also acidic & will lower ph so that must be taken into consideration as well.
