Rainbow chlorinator 320

Our pool was completed in June and when the PB installed the chlorinator it appears they crossthreaded the body of the chlorinator where the valve screws into it to control how much chlorine enters the pool and it had a slow leak. They tried to fix it a couple times but they were unsuccessful. And instead of replacing it they just put the valve on the top of the choloriantor instead of the bottom where it was originally. Seems like ever since that happened I have had way too much chlorine entering the pool even when the valve is turned down to 1 or 2. Is this ok to be on the top of the chlorinator or should I have them replace the entire thing? Sorry for the terrible explanation. Please let me know if more info is needed.

Personally I would download the installation manual if you don't have one and insist that it be installed exactly as the instructions state. That may require replacement.

Now, with that being said you will not want to use that as your normal source of chlorine. Each tab you put in that chlorination is almost 50% stabilizer/CYA and your pool will be over-stabilized in no time.

Welcome! Looks like they've done you a small favor. By installing it incorrectly, they got you to come here. Instead of having them fix it, just have them remove it all together. You really don't want to use that for your everyday chlorine additions. It adds CYA at the same time and eventually will lead to a need to drain.
Do yourself a favor and read Pool School from the button at the top of the page.

Feel free to ask any questions you may have.
