I am helping out a friend who has a SWCG above ground pool. We are getting ready to SLAM due to algae. The SLAM instructions state:

"SLAMing an outdoor pool is most effective when CYA is around 30 to 40."

However, according to the Chlorine/CYA Chart the recommended CYA for SWCG pools is 70-80. Her CYA is currently 40. So can we go ahead with the SLAM using the numbers from the non-SWCG chart and then raise the CYA when finished?

Thanks!

You follow the non-SWCG chart for a SLAM. Do not raise the CYA until after the SLAM is successful.

It also is advisable to leave the SWCG off during the SLAM. It is not designed to provide the chlorine that will be needed for the SLAM.

Good job!!
