Questions on new plumbing pool build

Hi All,

I'm new here and am having landscaping done and just installed a semi in-ground pool. The pool is buried 36" in the ground and is above ground 18". There will be a raised patio and 3' wide walkway built on a retaining wall that will encompass the pool. I'm trying to plan the plumbing and where the equipment should go. I'm using a aquapro 190 pump and a heat pump with a salt water generator. If I bring the piping down under the retaining wall, I'm wondering if I will have air pocket issues when the piping has to come back up to meet the pump. I can also put the equipment at a much lower level at the bottom of a hill behind the pool, but that is quite a distance away. Perhaps 30' or so. This would be a better space to hide the equipment, but I'm not sure on that kind of distance. The bottom of the hill is also 5' lower than the bottom of the pool. Lastly, wondering about how to install with the wall there. Is there any way to do this while maintaining accessibility in the event of a pipe cracking and needing replacement in the future? Any and all advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I wouldn't worry about the distance or the height difference at all. Most pool plumbing is done with 2" pipe nowadays, and friction loss will be minimal. Just install whatever is needed to stop the pool from draining at the equipment pad when you're working on the equipment.

It's a bit hard to picture the aspect of going under the retaining wall, but a low spot in the pipe won't be a concern for retaining air.

You could include an unused backup pipe for the ground shifting potential. If the ground or the retaining wall is not prone to shifting, I wouldn't worry about it myself. You may need to be careful with compaction if it's a dry-stack retaining wall, but most other types would bridge a small pipe trench.
