Questions on Cartridge filter system

I have a Eco Kleer 200sq filter system by waterway. The unit shows to use a 817-0200N filter which has a 4" inside diameter, but my unit has a another part inside of the system as shown in the attached picture which has a 6" diameter. What is this addition part that the filter slides onto. And why would the system state to use a filter with a 4" diameter filter but have this part which requires a 6" diameter filter

Your signature shows two filter systems. I assume you actually have the 200 sf model.

The filter cartridges I find for that system have a 4 inch internal diameter. You say your current filter is 6 inch internal diameter?

I have updated my signature with the information that is on the filter system itself. And yes the current filter has a 6" internal diameter because it has this part installed which just pulls out. ECO KLEER CORE CENTER . I dont know why it has this part or what it is for

The Pleatco PWW200 has a 6" internal diameter and is for Waterway systems.
The height is 25 1/4 "'

I am waiting for Waterway Plastics in California to open to ask additional questions about this unit, but I did find out that using a filter cartridge such as the PWW200 or PWWEK200that has no internal hard structure so the filter would collapse without using the ECO KLEER CORE CENTER part. The filter in which the unit calls for 817-0200N has a punched PVC pipe core built into the filter cart itself as seen here Waterway Clearwater II 200 Pool Filter Cartridge - Filbur FC-1288 The question now is why not use the suggest filter ver using the KLEER CORE CENTER part which requires a 6" internal dia filter?

Good point. Do you have that core center thing?
My system has this ECO KLEER CORE CENTER part... why I have no idea, maybe a sales thing back when I bought the pool. Why not use the recommend filter which has a 4" dia that has the punched PVC pipe core built into the filter ? I know understand the need for a solid core on a filter so it doesn't collapse, but why does mine have this is the question...The manufactures link to my filter system doesnt show it and shows to use the 817-0200N filter https://waterwayplastics.com/manuals/810-0072-2.0916.pdf

It'll be interesting to see what Waterway has to say. Maybe some kind of recall/retrofit.
Spoke directly to Waterway in Cali, and they they said this ECO KLEER CORE CENTER part is not listed in their parts breakdown schematic of the filter system. They said they make this unit as a private label for some companies, but it is still a Waterway ClearWater II – Cartridge Deluxe System 200SQ.
He did confirm that it takes the filter as noted on the unit 817-0200N which is 4" dia center bore, 23 5/16 length, and 8 15/16 OD. He does not know what the extra part is for, and could be a pool company addon to get people to buy larger and more expensive filters.
