Hi, my question to those with experience of repairing or re-plastering their pools, please advise or share your experiences in regard to my questions. My 15 Kgal pool needs re-plastering and therefore needs to be completely drained. But can ground water cause the empty pool to pop out of the ground? If hydrostatic valve(s) in the main drain are there to relieve the pressure, would not this backflow of water into the pool interfere with re-plastering the pool floor? Has anyone who did re-plastering experienced similar issues?

Yes, the valve allows water back into the pool. The contractor will remove any water that does flow during the process, but it’s generally not going to be a problem if there’s no ground water.

If you have ground water issues the plaster contractor may need to wait until there is a dry period when the ground water is lower. Local plaster companies usually know their area and how to handle it.
