Question on SWG install

We just ordered/received a CircuPool RJ-45 PLUS Salt Chlorine Generator. I tested salt, got 8 bags of pool salt, and got all the pvc etc needed for installation. My question is this: I have tomorrow off work and planned to help my husband with installing everything, but we haven’t been able to add salt yet. I know the salt needs 24 hours to circulate before we power and run the SWG, but because of timing if we add the salt in tonight, we won’t be able to keep the filter running while we planned to install/work on the pvc tomorrow. So could we install the cell and everything tomorrow, but hold off on connecting the SWG to power (allowing the filter to run water through to circulate the salt, without the cell being connected to power yet)? Just while the salt dissolves? Does that hurt the SWG cell if water is running through it without the power connected? Or should we wait to install the SWG cell and new pvc until after we’ve got the salt levels exactly where they need to be?
We just don’t want to lose a day to work on installation if we can avoid it!

It’s not a problem to have the system installed and let water circulate through it, but frankly, unless you are putting in big pellets of salt, it should easily be able to dissolve overnight and you should be able to fire up the SWG after you install it.

There is nothing magical about 24 hours. As long as all the salt has dissolved and your salt test shows that the salinity level is within a good range then you can turn on the SWG.

Thanks all! Just pool salt from Lowe’s, so guess I’ll dump it in tonight and let it circulate!

I've used several brands including Diamond and Morton's from HD and Lowes that all dissolve within 30 min. Just make sure it's not the kind that has anything about using it for iron on the bag. Usually takes a few hours before I get uniform salt content with the pump running. No big deal if you run the cell with no power. If needed you can always add some liquid chlorine if you need to before the salt generator is started.

Some salt has prussian blue added as an anti-caking additive and can stain plaster if sitting concentrated on the bottom too long. My suggestion is add in early morning and brush a few times throughout the day to move it around and help it dissolve before dark. Leave pool circulating all night and recheck salk level the next morning
