Question on pump time and robot skimmer

Hi Everyone...I just put an order in for the Betta II skimmer robot. It got me thinking that IF the robot does a good job of cleaning the surface of the pool, is there any reason to turn my VSP up on a daily basis as long as the speed satisfies the SWG and heater? Right now I have the pump turn on high a few times a day just to skim but if the surface is clean, any reason to do this? I am thinking I can just keep it lower most/all of the time as long as it is making chlorine and moving the chemicals around. I would turn it higher when adding DE.

Thoughts?

The reason to run the pump is for circulation and filtration. That's all. If your solar skimmer picks up the rest, more power to you! Most folks find the water in the pool loses its shine and sparkle without some daily filtration grasping the microscopic particles. How much to do daily is subjective.

Yeah, I run my pump 24/7, I just have it on high speed a few hours a day. I thinking I can keep my pump still running 24/7, but just at a lower speed all the time with the robot skimmer taking care of the surface junk.
