Hi Pool People!
We have an 8500 gallon salt water little party pool that is just perfect for us. But I think the pump is starting to go.:( It's making some high pitched sounds. I have been reading that Variable Speed Pumps are more energy efficient and a good idea for our pool. Do these motors need to be covered from rain? I would like to hear suggestions from the group about what brand/series would be a good one to purchase. However, I'm not too excited about the prices I'm seeing. But then does it save in the long run?
Looking forward to the knowledge you folks have for me!

P,

All pool pumps are designed to be out in the rain...

VS pumps are great as you can run them at a low rpm and save on your electrical bills.. And... at low rpms they are so quiet that you almost have to touch them, just to make sure they are running..

The downside, as you point out, is the initial cost.

Thanks,

Jim R.
