In The Industry
Hi Stan: Just sat down after a very long day saw your recent post regarding our Aqua Clarity product. Let me offer some information that may be helpful. Also, thank you for your detailed post regarding the information on "BAC" & "QAC'".
As I have stated previously, the Aqua Clarity product is made from a proprietary formulation. We are not planning on divulging
and listing what goes into the formula or percentages. We didn't seek patent protection as we would have to divulge what goes into our formulas. Also stated previously was the fact that we have an EPA registration on Hot Tub Serum Weekly Maintenance, a product that contains BAC/QAC and is used for hot tubs and swim spas. As you know Stan, Quats are found in literally thousands of everyday cleaning and personal care products and have been ubiquitous in the recreational water industry including hot tubs, swim spas and swimming pools for well over half a century. A typical pool treated with a popular strength quat algaecide would no doubt have a higher residual than a typical hot tub dosed with our mixed and diluted Aqua Clarity for a week. Furthermore, I am quite sure that you realize that chlorine is much more broad-spectrum in it's mode of action and the combination kills bacteria preventing them from "surviving with resistance". Bacteria would have to be resistant to both a BAC/QAC and chlorine to survive in a hot tub treated with both. You are correct in your assessment of developing bacterial resistance if the hot tub only had BAC/QAC, but hot tubs treated with Aqua Clarity need a sanitizer like chlorine or bromine to be effective and maintained in a healthy state. Resistance is very unlikely because of this fact. As we like to say to people. Using the Aqua Clarity in a hot tub can be very beneficial if the sanitizer levels get very low or at zero. The Aqua Clarity is the insurance back up. However, the hot tub needs both to work most effectively. Synergies are derived when the sanitizer/Aqua Clarity team get on the field. The bottom line here Stan is this. There are many products available that have fancy marketing, packaging and a story line. We cannot vouch for most of them but I can tell you that the Aqua Clarity is very safe when used according to our instructions, is very effective at maintaining crystal clear water and is constantly cleaning surfaces in the plumbing and shell 24/7, mitigating future build-up of contaminants. We sweep the surfaces and the filter(s) grab the particulates. End of story.
