Quartzscapes blue plaster turning grey

Hey Folks, I was advised by the pool plastering company to stay away from the darker blue colors in the quartzscapes finish as they have a tendency to turn grey. Does anyone have first hand knowledge / experience of this? Thanks!

Another reason for this to happen (other than what Allen stated) is that some Blue color pigments can be bleached by chlorine, leaving the color of the plaster "grey" because the plaster mix probably also contains a grey color pigment that doesn't bleach out.

Hello, hopefully you haven't had your finish done yet, I had Quartzscapes Barbados blue done in my pool and it was finished March 2021, the finish went from blue to grey and I use Baquacil and we don't use chlorine. The finish is really blotchy and was for the most part installed correctly, it was acid washed, acid bath and whatever else they could do for it and it is a finish I will replace in 10 years no questions asked. My recommendation is to stay away from Quartzscapes if you can. The finish has issues, there is no question and you have to learn to live with whatever and however it turns out. I have had three pools built and the pebble sheen, pebble tech and others seem to give the best coloration. My first pool had a medium grey plaster and it looked nice for the entire time we had the pool, it was cheap and might have been one of the best looking finishes even after five years when we sold the house.

Thank you for the input. Based on the advice here, and the advice from the interior finish company, we have switched gears and will be going with a light colored finish. I am sorry to hear about your pool finish.
