I "usually" get bright pink when I test.

I have been battling high TA the last month, I guess. Right now my pH is 7.2 and yet when I did my TA test yesterday, on the 8th drop, it turned barely pink. 9th drop solid bright pink.

Let it go? Test again? I don't usually have this problem. it's new for this year's testing...am I being too anal about this???

What is your TA.

I would leave it alone until your PH creeps up, then when you lower PH, TA lowers as well. You can repeat that process until your PH is more stable.

We deliberately lowered the pH. it's been a steady 7.5, 6. We wanted to get the TA down because it's been as high as 110, but mainly staying at 90. yesterday was the first time it turned at the 8th drop but not a good, solid pink

You're worrying too much.

The way the test works is you add drops and it changes and you keep going until it stops changing. It's not the instant it changes color, but when it changes color and doesn't change anymore.

So... drops 1 to 7 might have caused a short-lived pink spot until it mixed and returned to green. Maybe it even started to look a bit grey. Drop 8 made it turn pale pink. Drop 9 made it turn Barbie Pink. There should have been a drop 10, too. If it made a change, then a drop 11. If drop 10 looked the same as Drop 9, deduct drop 10 because it was useless. 9 drops. Your TA is 90.

I tested again and it's 90. the range is 70-80 and it's been a steady 90 now for...let me count...May 27 it was 70. I think I skipped some logs but I have a paper log downstairs. June 2 was 90. it's been 90 longer than ever in the history of MY pool....

BTW, it's TFP's fault I'm so anal about it :D
