Purex Triton Minimax 250 heater replacement?

Hi,
My heater which is about 20 years old just wouldnt turn on. Pool guy said it was the board, board is $150 and labor so total of $300.
He said alternatively he could get me a 5 year old heater, same style, from someone that was upgrading, for $800. Any ideas if this is a good strategy?

Considering he got it for free it is a GREAT deal for him But, it may be a good deal for you if it is a good system with no issues but if it is ragged and looks horrible it will not be a good deal... look him in the eyes and say " since you got it for free I will give you 600 installed" or 800 installed
