Our pump has died on our Doughboy 28' AG and I am looking to replace it but not sure what I should get. I thought I would replace with what is already there which is a 1.5 hp pump but after doing some reading here I'm not sure. My filter is the SD 60. I have two returns, my regular return and then another one on the other side of the pool which is the Pentair Aqualuminator. Also, what's best, one speed or two?

Suggestions, thoughts?

2 speeds are great and not a lot more $ than single speeds. Variable speed even better if you want to spend the $. If it's just the motor that's gone, how about replacing the motor with a 2-speed and rebuilding the pump...that's probably the least expensive way to go. A 1.5 HP 2 speed would be plenty.
