Pump stopped working

Good Morning ,

My pool opened on Saturday May 27th. the Pool guy started Pump and told me that it does not sound very good. he said he will fix it but does not guarantee it would work. I kept it running for 48 hours after first shock and after that it stopped working. I assume i have to get new one. My current hayward pump is 1.0 HP. As per TFP site , it says that my size of pool needs only .5 HP pump. As per Pool calculator my pool hold about 29000-30000 gallon water. ( 18*36) and deep sid 9 ft+ shallow 3 ft so total dept around 6 ft.

Any recommendations on should I go with 1 HP or less than that. Also my pool has only one return so not sure if that matters as well to decide the HP.

Any recommendations on where to buy from?

Thanks
Archana

Also how do I decide multi speed or single speed?
Two speed or VS is the only choice in my mind. Do you currently have any sort of automation. Also, what is the pump make/model?

What type of Automation? Pump is Hayward superpump 1hp. The label on the pump cannot be read so i do not know the exact model #. So i am not able to decide to buy only motor . My pool guy is not very prompt in replying calls. My pool is open and cannot add chlorine without water gets circulated.

Can i use robot and add chlorine in the meantime? Worst scenario i will order new pump and get it installed.
Thanks

Yes you can add chlorine in the meantime. Running the robot and brushing will help mix it in.

Another option is to have you current motor rebuilt. Google electric motor repair and I bet you'll find a few places that can have it fixed in a day or two for less than $100.
