Hello! I am a new pool owner. I have a 20x44 pool with a spill over 8ft square spa. It is chlorine, mineral/ozone. I have three Jandy VSP pumps (one for the pool, water features, and spa.) our electric bill was insane this month and I’m wondering if I can change some of these settings. I have IAquaLink. Thank you for any recommendations. Pool is crystal clear. Pumps run 24/7.

Filteration pump running at 3450 rpm 24/7 is why your electric bill is high.

Do you have a SWG? Heater? What models?

Lower your filtration pump to 2400. That should cut electrical use in less then half.

You may be able to run lower depending on your equipment.

Thank you this is extremely helpful. I have a chlorine pool with mineral/ozone. Three Jandy VSP pumps. I have a propane heater hasn’t been running at all. The filter pump for the pool is the one going so high. The other pumps are for water features and spa.

Mineral & ozone…. hmmm

Do you know that the copper and silver in your mineral system will accumulate in the water and eventually lead to blonde hair turning green and stains in your pool? Usually takes about 3 years for the problems to appear.

I have the Taylor test kit
Which model?

Are you able to help me change my speed settings on my pump?
I don't have iAquaLink. That said, the screens should intuitively guide you to adjust your pump RPM and runtime. I would start with the "Speed Setup" button in the lower right corner.

Run your pump for a purpose. Max speed 24/7 is totally unnecessary and expensive. Operate at the RPM and timespan required for chlorination (you don't have a SWG for now, but if you did it would be a factor), skimming, circulation, and filtering. A VSP can accomplish those tasks using very little electricity. I'm running my pump 24/7 at 1,000 rpm, which is enough to close the flow switch on the SWG and provide good skimming and circulation. It costs me $5/month total in electricity.

The minimum on all pumps should be 600. That first one is not set correctly there is no reason for that setting. It is keeping your bills up for sure.

You need to go into the speed setup. It is on that screen you listed. The "Pool" speed is what your "Filter Pump" uses. I set mine at 2000 which is plenty for the saltwater generator.

You can set the speed you want each event to use. Post some print screens of your system and features we can advice an appropriate speed.

Another way to save money is to turn off your Ozone system. Those systems do almost the same thing whether they are running or not. Take advantage of that for electric savings.
