Pump repair... Wrong impeller?

I have a Waterway pump that through reasons which are unimportant here, requires a new impeller. I pulled the old one out, took it to the local pool store along with the photos of the pump model number, and they ordered in a replacement based on the model number of the pump.

I just got the new impeller home to find its slightly different from the old one, and now I'm trying to figure out if we got the wrong new one (whether the store got the wrong part number or we were sent the wrong thing), or if someone had previously replaced the original one with the wrong part.

On the left is the old impeller, on the right is the new one. New one is smaller diameter and slightly wider vanes, plus the... I dunno, the part where the water comes in... is shorter and so will leave a larger gap to the diffuser.

It looks like it SHOULD work... The question is, will it work as well?20210605_120744.jpg
