Pump not running

Yesterday our heat index got to 110+. Last night my husband went out to get a sample to test water and the pump was off. The switch was still on, but the pump was really hot. We turned it off and went back out in the morning to try it. It made a buzzing/humming sound, but wouldn’t come on.

I’m guessing it’s fried but not sure. We can’t get a pump installed for 2 weeks. What can we do to keep our pool from turning green?

Pump is a Pentair Whisperflo high performance pump.

Check the capacitor in the hump in the pump.

Put 5 ppm of liquid chlorine in your pool daily and stir it in using your pool brush until you get your pump running.

Thanks. The pump is fried. Interestingly enough, our neighbor had an extra pump. We are installing it now.
