Hi all,
Having tired of watching my old Hayward Super II pump (SP3015EE) develop issues over the year I have decided to replace it. Amazon today shipped my new Pentair Superflo VS 1.5 HP (342001) and 2" pump unions.
Did I read here at TFP that many pool owners do not bolt their pump mounts to the concrete pad?
Last year, when removing the Hayward for some plumbing work, we had to grind off the old mounting bolts because they had seized (the Hayward hasn't been bolted in since, and it has made a slight bit different noise since). So now there are still bolts down in the hole where, presumedly, the Pentair would be bolted in.
So, 2 questions:
1. Is it acceptable practice to NOT BOLT the pump mount to the concrete pad?
2. And/or, if I DO BOLT it in, are these Hayward and Pentair models so like-sized that I need to extract the old bolts from the pad to secure the Pentair?
Thanks for any thoughts!
