Hi this is Kim,
In the wee hours of Thursday morning we had a power outage which of course I didn't discover until I got up around 10:00 a.m. I went about my day and then I realized that my pool pump wasn't working cuz I saw no movement in my water. So I went to the circuit breaker the switch was on but I flipped it off then back on went back to the pump and it just hums and then shuts off. The pump is 4 years old I'm attaching pictures and video if I can of the model number and the pump. I don't use the timer, I run it 24/7 because it saves me on chemicals and it's been the best way for me to keep my pool crystal clear. I also own a very expensive Polaris 9550 sport pool cleaner with the very fine filter. The pump always comes on after a power outage with no problem so I'm not sure what's going on. I don't use the timer as you will see in the pictures when I moved in with my sister here after her husband died I took over the pool maintenance myself. Almost everything in this house is rookie dookie if you know what I mean. I am extremely handy and had to fix a lot of other stuff in this house and I can't believe the way some men have just did things to get by anyway I change my basket once and if I have to twice a day at the skimmer when there are heavy leaves on a windy day. I did go in and feel if the propeller turns easily and it does I cleaned up around the pump a few leaves that accumulated during the storm and any dirt splashed up onto the pump and filter and actually vacuumed the back lightly. I have no idea why they didn't just put this on a concrete slab but that's neither here nor there I wasn't here when the pool pumping filter where installed. It's usually just me and my sister maybe three times a week going into the pool and maybe three times a summer having a party where there's more than just her and I in the pool. The filter sand was changed in 2020 as well And I am always sure to backwash and rinse as needed at least once every two weeks. I hope that somebody can help because I'm going to freak out if I start seeing green in my pool lol

That pump has two capacitors. To test them you would need to have a multimeter with a capacitance setting. Working on capacitors can be dangerous as they store a charge and need to be discharged prior to testing. The Hayward SKU for the capacitor set you need is SPX2600CAP2. You could also contact INYO pools with your pump information and they can assist.

Okay so I called a pool guy and they wanted to know if I could take the motor off and bring it in and he would replace it in a few hours. I'm by myself right at the moment and I told him I didn't know if I could I would check and see if my brother could help but asked him if he could send a tech out to do it he told me almost $650 for a new motor The motor only cost us $750 brand new so I was a little ****** at that and I've been looking online and saw that if the impeller turns relief that it's probably the capacitor. What do you mean by discharging I've worked and put timers on washers and dryers and had to make sure there was any charge in certain areas when I opened it up and I tested it with a screwdriver. I believe I have several types to test. So do you mean inyo pools would help me test the current capacitors and help me put in new ones?

Ok…..so, if the shaft/impeller turns freely it’s very likely the capacitor(s). If you want to roll the dice without diagnosing completely you can replace them. Open the top square of the case. On the left (if you’re on the backside of the pump) you will see the metal can that looks like a large battery. That’s one of the capacitors. On the right you will see a white capacitor under a clamp. It also looks like a large battery. Be careful handling them as they could have a stored charge. You will want to note exactly which wires are located on which terminals, because you will want to replace them in the same position on the new caps. Once you’ve noted the wires on each terminal, using an insulated pair of needle nose pliers remove the wires from the terminals. Be careful when removing the connectors. Once’s the terminals of the capacitor are exposed - using an insulated screwdriver, use it to cross touch the terminals of the capacitor to discharge it. Touch each terminal across another multiple times to be safe. Be careful, the caps store a charge that can shock and kill you. Once discharged reassemble the new caps with the appropriate wires on each terminal. If you are not comfortable doing any of this, don’t attempt it, let a pro handle it.

Here’s a general vid from Inyo that may help, however your pump is different than the one pictured.

Thank you so much for your help I contacted the guy you said he'll change the matter and asked him why without looking at it he automatically assumed that it's a motor not the capacitors and he says it's usually not the issue with that model so I'm a little leery I'll I am going to call somebody else and I appreciate all your help I've been calling some companies but this time of year it's so busy and the pool hasn't been running since Thursday and I'm starting to get freaked out cuz I could smell the chlorine smell the which means it's entire need of a shock or slam lol

It looks like a 20 uF and a 40 uF run capacitors, which should be available locally.

Thank you so much for all the information I really really appreciate it I may just try and do this myself. I haven't had any luck with any pool services calling me back and I'm about to freak out because he's been 3 days now since my pool had any filtering

4 screws to remove the cover.

Take pictures of everything and then disconnect the wires from the capacitors and install the new capacitors.

Make sure that the electrical connections are isolated from making contact with anything.

The capacitors do not need to be the exact same as the existing ones.

The main thing is the voltage and capacitance.

Hi everyone I finally got my Hayward super pump 700 series motor replaced with a sentry motor and the back is much longer which freaked me out because I didn't notice it until I got it home now the pool stores closed that sold it to me I'm trying to put the motor back on and I see that I was given an optional motor pump pad spacer I'm not sure what to do with that I'm attaching pictures of both motors The gold one is the Hayward and the black long one is the century. Can you please tell me what the spacer is for it says something about vibration absorption to the motor. I'll touch a picture of that too. The back of this motor is much longer than the original Hayward motor.

If the motor is smaller in diameter than the original, it can go between the back of the motor and the curve in the cradle of the mounting pad. Or just left off, like many thousands of others are.

Hello again everyone! I just love you all. Okay so I put the different type of motor same size and all that back onto my pump I figured out that it didn't need the spacer here's the original post
Post in thread 'Pump just Hums after power outage' Pump just Hums after power outage
It now looks like my pump is leaking or the housing perhaps it needs a new rubber thing going around it I forget what they're called mind is blank right now as I'm preparing to get hip replacement surgery and just found out that I have low levels of protein to my head is spinning I can't remember the name it's like washer but it's not a washer o-ring or something sorry but I'm here's the video if anybody can enlighten me what to do. Oh my god this pool I love it but it's going to kill me this year! Okay so it wouldn't let me upload the files even though I made it lower so I was able to create a link I hope you can see the video here's the link

Not sure why you didn’t change the capacitors, however it would appear seals are leaking. It doesn’t appear you have the new motor square to the wet end. You can see the gap variance in the pictures as indicated. Did you get the seals in square? Replace the slinger? Lube all seals and face the mechanical shaft seal in the correct orientation? What spacer are you referencing?
