Pump failing?

I have an old single speed Pentair 1.5 hp pump. We had a big storm the other night and when I woke up the pump was off. Turns out the breaker was popped. I tried flipping the breaker and it just kept popping. So I switched off all the equipment with a switch and left it all for a day. Went back tonight and turned on the switches for the pump, and then turned on the pump

I heard a pretty loud pop from the pump motor and the breakers flipped again.

I suspect the pump motor may be done for. I probably need to get a new pump, but the problem is I am leaving town Saturday morning for 10 days

Questions
1. How bad will it be if I leave the pool without a pump for a couple weeks? I could just add some extra chlorine before I go.
2. How hard is it to install a new pump? I just installed a new Polaris booster pump, which wasn’t too hard.
3. Any other ideas?

If you don't have automation, you could just replace the motor, shaft seal, body gasket (GOKIT32-9). Nidec Neptune NPTQ165 will work on that pump. It is a variable-speed motor that gives complete control over scheduling and pump speeds. An existing timeclock would no longer be used.
New pump install depends on what is there now. If you have unions, a new Intelliflo would slide right in. If no unions, it would be good to use them if you install a new pump. Hi-Temp pump unions are the best option. Might require some minor re-plumbing as well.
