Hey Guy, when my pump shuts off, it burps water out from under the cover. I thought it was the gasket, so I cleaned overthing up, added new rubber gasket, covered in lube and no change. Still burps out water. :rolleyes:tempImageUoortt.jpg

Gary,

Sounds like you have air in your filter..

Next time, before shutting off the pump, purge the air from the filter and see if you have the same problem..

Air in the filter is usually some kind of suction side air leak.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Thanks so much Jim. I had purged the air. I did it again, and still when I shut off pump, it goes sssspppp for a second and shoots out water. I also notice the cover is turning on and off much easier that in years prior. Not sure if these wear. I don't see any cracks.

Gary,

The top should be tight.. Is the O-Ring still there??? When you shut off the pump, nothing should be coming out.

When the pump is running the suction will hold the lid down, but when the pump is off, the suction is gone. If the lid is loose, then it will pop up and allow air in.

This can also let your pump basket drain back into the pool.... And allow some filter water to rush backwards into the pump.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Yes, put new o ring in today. Seated just fine.

The NorthStar is known to have a weak seal for the lid.

When the pump turns off, the system is still pressurized and some water can spit out.

Not much that can be done.

Northstar is a poorly designed pump.
