Hi everyone, I am in a bit of a panic mode and my pool maintenance company isn’t responding, likely because it’s Sunday. The freezing temps have arrived in Houston and it’s cold! It’s my first year here and my first year with this pool. I recently began having my automation changed out from Jandy to Pentair but my equipment pad is still Jandy. I also have a heater, spa and waterfall in the mix that I didn’t have before.

Because of the different systems, my pentair Control panel doesn’t completely control my pump. My pump is hooked up to to it via the Jandy iAquaLink. It appears that they both go into freeze mode but I don’t quite understand how that difference impacts the equipment.

This morning, my pump was running the freeze program, and the control panel was also on freeze, but my pool jets didn’t appear to be running (perhaps because it was in spa mode at the time?) Also, the water level in my spa had dropped by about two inches.

The waterfall didn’t appear to have come in at all. Should it be running during these cold temps?

I’m concerned about my equipment especially considering I don’t know anything about it. I’m so used to my other pool. Help!

Sunny,

I don't think it is going to get cold enough, for long enough, to cause any real damage, as long as your main pump is running..

I would want the system in the Pool mode and just let the spa be.

I'd probably pop the lid off of the single speed pump and just not turn it on for now.

Thanks,

Jim R.
Are you saying pop the lid off the waterfall pump?

Also, the spa runs automatically. I don’t know how to stop that.

Do you have more than one single speed pump? If not, then yes, the waterfall pump.

Unfortunately, your plumbing set-up will not allow you to turn off the constant Spa spillover.

Again, I don't think you are going to be cold enough to really cause any damage.

Jim R.
I have the cleaner but I don’t think I can take the lid off of that. I don’t think it will be cold enough either but my husband is getting antsy so I’m trying to appease him too.

Thanks Jim! As always, your quick response and advice is super helpful!
