Proper way to re-secure slate stones on spa spill over

I have an attached spa. The spill over is made of 1”-2” thick slate stones. The top layer of stones are loose and can be picked up. Most likely from my kids diving off of them.

Question: what kind of mortar or thinset should I use to re-secure them? I have a chlorine pool. Or should I use a liquid nail kind of product?

Thanks

If the mortar base below the stones are all there meaning you can lift the stones out by themselves you can use a urethane based concrete block or construction adhesive. If the underlying mortar is loose or crumbling then you need to remove that and use Sand Mix concrete kinda dry like cookie dough and use an admix to help secure the new to the old concrete.

If your just using adhesive just try to keep it dry for a day and your good.
