I have a small pool/spa (about 3800 gallons combined) dating back to 80s, I think, and just had it resurfaced.
I was told that the pool's main drain is responsible for just 25% of the suction flow, with the bulk going to the skimmer. The diverter valve (appears to be plastic, not brass) has been stuck in the same position it was in when we bought the house; I was told to just leave it as it is and that there's no need to mess with it.
Does all this sound right? I've been wondering if I ought to have more flow than I already do coming from the main drain...
