Have a Hayward Heat Pump (square, HP-50TA?) for my pool that has not been working properly since its installation 6 years ago. (THe installer & his replacement are long gone) It works to heat one time, and then when it turns off, it does not come back on again unless one manually sets a reset sequence on the controller. That sequence was modified from a Hayward Tech Service bulletin from 2007 and is in the Hayward Troubleshooting Manual. It has had the control board, and the capacitor replaced. Each time an item is replaced, and the sequence is entered, it heats. Sometimes it even works for days or weeks. But then all it takes is a power blip for it to go out again. Most recently it was heating, but not stopping at the set temp (pool made it up to 93!). They again did the reset to resolve that, worked for a day, but then it didn't heat at all. It was reset again yesterday by our pool maintenance company, and yesterday it was heating, but again today, it is not heating. But today, a NEW issue - the screen on heater is flashing "LP" which menas most likely a leak of fluid in the line (but could be several other things). It was heating yesterday though. THe company we have been using gave me a "story" that" each time you fix one thing something else goes wrong." They are not qualified to do leak testing, so told me to contact my A/C company to check for a leak. If no leak they think I need a new heater - which I am trying to avoid. (At this point I am ready to drain & convert my pool to a large flower bed!)
