Pre pool opening (white water mold)

The instructions say use pool proper or skimmer. Idk what a proper is so I’m rolling with skimmer lol.

I’m using half of a 6 oz container. Do I scoop or spoon it straight into the skimmer (without a basket or sock)?
Like one big clump or kinda small pieces?

No official idea, but in theory, if it hadn't dissolved due to high flow on the way to the filter, it would stick there and be quickly dissolved with all the water running through it. 🤷‍♂️

Spread it out the best you can for goop.

Ok, I’m about an hour in. I’m trying to take pics to document the process for swimming pools. In case there ends up another rare case of wwm in a chlorine pool

I had vacuumed and
adjusted ph to 7.4 just
prior to adding the ahhsome
Fc was 8.5 cc 0.5

Added ahhsome in small chunks into skimmer mostly, and three or four chunks directly to pool water. (I can’t be certain but seems I remember ahhsome guy telling me to do that last year)
Also added 1/2 gallon on Lc per directions, as I used half a container for my pool size

So far I see :
some debris settled on the bottom near return near entry steps (pretty shallow)

Small amount of foaming near bubbler and in skimmer

One or two small areas that look like an oil slick. Not sure if this is the product itself or something it’s attacking.

Maybe do follow ups at 12 and 24 hours
Exciting stuff

Good morning
No significant difference visually
No clumps or floaters (like last year)
Skimmer sock much cleaner no brown/yellow stuff

inside skimmer appears to be a fine glaze/skin type stuff on top of the water

No rise in pressure gauge on filter
Oclt I think is a pass
8:15 pm yesterday fc 14 cc .5
7:15 am today fc 13 cc 0 (I rarely see 0)IMG_5280.jpegIMG_5275.jpegIMG_5279.jpeg

I’m a little torn on yay or boo.

Maybe I was hoping to see some big clumps of ick to be like aha got ya!

But yay chlorine is holding, water is clear, and cc is 0

Would you think hold the line another 24 hours to let ahhsome do its thing, keeping fc no less than 10?
Then resume slam?
(Just a reminder fc was 8.5 when I added the awesome and 1/2 gallon 10% Lc. No additions since. Currently fc 13)

Me too.

But after it bit us the first time, I would rather take some easy extra steps, than not enough steps. Any. Day. Of. The. Week.

Maybe time was all that was needed and we finally got there. Maybe this is getting us over that last hump. Either way, all stones are turned between this and new sand. :)

Yep! I haven’t gotten an exact date for the sand just “first week of June” through calls and emails. Don’t freak out but I think I’ll take a trip to the pool store!!
I’m gettin on that schedule 🥊

Which filter do you have ? It's $27 for 50 lbs at Ace, maybe a little more for pool store markup although I'd hope he cuts you a break at least.

Either way, it won't break the bank with him providing the labor. 200lbs would be $120 at the regular store, 300 lbs would be $175

350lbs of sand. Says it on the label. Your model is an S270T.

There is no such thing as a filter being “too large”. TFP always recommends installing the largest filter you can afford on a pool as it reduces cleaning/backwashing frequency.

That being said, I backwash once a week. Should I not, until pressure rises?
A set schedule is a pool store, one size fits all kinda thing. In some instances like this one, it doesn't hurt, but it's also not necessary more times than not.

We use 25% psi increases to be specific to your system, your environment and the specific point in the season. 25% could be the bulk of the regular season, or 3 weeks in spring. And completely different at your neighbors house.

With a huge filter, use the benefit of less frequent cleaning and react when it tells you it's time.
