Not ready to open just yet. Water is mostly clear, slight green. Shocked with 1 gal. Running pump a few hours daily. Prefer to leave cover on to keep leaves out. Did this last week and see no change, which was my goal. Anyone tried this approach?

We call it a 'soft open' and many do it. Or a soft close in the fall.
Get a CYA reading when it's sunny and maintain the FC like you should. UV demand is still low and it's covered for even less loss. The dose will probably last the week or maybe even two, and adjust frequency as necessary.
