Pour in place vs precast coping

Hi,

First, thanks for all the contributors here. I've been reading through a lot of great info.
We are in SoCal and currently in the final phases of our build. I am not sure which coping to go with.
I am leaning toward pre-cast coping because I am concerned about cracking over time and breakdown of the concrete with a SWG pool. My thinking is that with a pre-cast you can pop out any trouble pieces and replace.

Any thoughts are appreciated.

Thanks!

I think salt erosion of the cast in place concrete is a non issue. Concrete is used in contact with ocean water all the time and that is 10x the concentration of salt in a salt water pool. I'm going on my sixth season with no issues. If your pool is a free form pool or you want a specific color, the cast in place is also good for that. For a geometric pool, I love the look of pre-cast blue stone. As far as longevity, I have a couple hairline cracks, but I don't even notice and I have some serious OCD.

Thanks for the reply!

Glad to hear about the salt erosion. We have a geometric pool - 16x40. I am also pretty OCD about this stuff (hence the question!).
Can you post a link for the pre-cast blue you are talking about? I'm not sure about colors but I know I want some contrast between the coping and deck (which will be concrete).
