Posting for my brother in law

My brother in law is not on this site, but sent me these pictures, and asked what these dark spots could be. I waiting on his numbers, but thought I would help him out and get ahead start with some pictures..

Probably Calcium scale. Could be metal stains if he got suckered into buying a "mineral pack" of some sort. Also possible if he's overloaded it with any of the Chlorox Blue pool chemicals. The blue is copper sulfate.

I do know he does not use our method. He has the cylinder that he puts pucks into, then turns lever to the desired amount of chlorine released
