Pool Vac XL Stays in Deep End

I've noticed that my suction-side cleaner circles around in the deep end only. I have a rebuild kit on order because it seems like it's having trouble climbing the incline from the deep end to the shallow end, but in addition to that it almost appears that the eyeball jet near the skimmer (and the hose) is pushing the hose toward the deep end. The jet isn't in the picture, but it's aimed at the skimmer basket.

Could it be that in addition to having to climb the incline, my little Hayward also has to overcome the hose being pushed to the deep end? I thought about pointing the jet lower, but then I wouldn't have tiny ripples pushing debris into the skimmer basket. Has anyone else experienced this, and would I benefit from somehow holding the hose toward the wall so that the jet doesn't push it?

Have you tried reversing the circulation flow in the opposite direction? How many eyeballs are there?

I have 4 eyeballs and they are oriented clockwise to push toward the skimmer. I haven't tried changing direction only because the shape of the pool would have the skimmer facing away from the jet circulation.

oh you only have the one skimmer? Hypothetically, if you reversed the jets, partially closed the main, the vacuum would be covering the entire pool (Potentially) and the skimmer would have more suction so the direction wouldn't affect it as much? Idk, just thought it might be worth a try.

Thanks! Call it a freeform, kidney, amoeba... I dunno. It's easy to clean though.

The feet have a wear line on them. maybe just a traction issue.

Turns out that the pool vac's ability to hold traction is directly related to its ability to hold suction. In other words, if the side wings and the front and rear flaps are worn (as was the case for mine), then the cleaner will not be able to pull itself close enough to the liner surface to gain traction (let alone to clean).

So, I purchased one of these kits:

part number AXW-350 ($30) which is new flaps, new wings, new feet, tools and instructions to make it like new again.
