I noticed yesterday that my pool pump wasn't running and went out to investigate. I discovered that my pool timer was blank and verified power to the input of the timer. I installed a two speed pump recently, but have only been using it at high speed because my current timer didn't have the ability to control multiple speeds so replacing this timer was somewhere on the horizon anyway. The current setup is a mess. I bought the house 15 years ago and it's what I inherited with the purchase. At one point, there were multiple pumps being controlled along with low voltage lighting in the waterfall. The lighting and one of the pumps were already abandoned. The 3rd pump went to a separate water feature in the yard that I have since torn out and abandoned as well so for the last 10 years the only thing I have been controlling with the timer is the pool pump.
The current timer was mounted on the interior wall of the garage. The pool equipment is located on the other side of the wall. I'm looking at replacing it with the Intermatic PE103 and relocating it on the exterior wall, but I do like being able to control everything from inside. It runs about $230. Is there a better option that could be flush-mounted where the current controller is? This would also save me from running new wire and conduit. I just need to make sure it can support two speeds and I want at least one extra channel in case I ever decide to go back to a cleaner that requires a booster pump.
