I suspect that the heater probably came on while there was insufficient flow through the heater.

If that happens, the heat from the heater can back up into the inlet pipe and cause the problem.

I would leave the heater off until the builder can review everything.

At the outdoor panel, press the "Mode" button to change to service mode and then operate the pump from the control panel on the pump as shown in the video.
